Weds 28th – Zaostrog
After the disappointments of camp Rozac in Trogir Camp Vitter was
back to normal. A lovely quiet site 50m from the beach and our pitch had proper
grass! The drive down was dramatic and very twisty. The tarmac frequently vanished
and you had to cross a gravel strip – work in progress. Very minimal warning –
in fact none. Once established I
immediately headed to the sea for a refreshing swim – on the cool side but
wonderfully relaxing after a sweaty drive.
will he won't he? he did.....

We walked up towards the old town which lies below Mount Vitter. The
town moved downhill after an earthquake in 1962 destroyed many of the houses.
We could see that some were now inhabited but the majority still had no roofs.
walk up to old village
Fri 30th
We moved all of an hour up the coast to Camp Sirena just south of
Omis. What a dramatic terraced site, clinging to the side of a steep slope. A
real gem of a find with winding steps connecting all of the levels. Our pitch
looked right over to Brac island and beyond. Worringly the wind was picking up,
oh no the dreaded Burra was coming…….
calm before the storm
still windy in morning
No campers on the site slept that night as the wind was
unbelievable. Our van despite being no lightweight and with steadies firmly
down and rear air suspension set on hard was wobbling like a jelly! I slept a fair bit but Tina was very tired
next morning.

The elderly German Triker with mini sleeping pod when I was chatting
to him about his “rig” made reference to boats and waves to describe his night.
