Fri 23rd
Well we did stay a bit longer than planned
as our habitation door had developed a problem with the lock the previous
evening. I bodged it shut with a cable tie overnight.
It has 2 locking points but the top one was
not securing at all causing the door to be loose and letting in a draught. Not
good and not very secure so I stripped down the door to find the problem. After
some careful dis-assembly involving lots of plastic pins, screws and double
sided tape the offending item dropped out as I eased the bottom plastic
moulding off– a small broken spring! Sods law that it was the top mechanism one;
it involved taking all the door mouldings and window blind off to gain access.
I reshaped the broken spring as the
likelihood of obtaining a new one off the shelf was very slim. I reassembled
the lock mechanisms with the good spring at the top and my remodeled one at the
bottom, as it would be much easier to replace if it broke again. Once assembled
it worked perfectly – yippee, success!!
cheer up - you fixed it!
I will need to get new blanking plugs for
the inside handle screws and some new plastic retaining pins once home to make
the job complete. I love solving problems like this. Fingers crossed nothing
else breaks………………………………..
We revised our plans and headed back down
to the coast via a supermarket, as we just had to buy another chicken to BBQ!
The free camping spot on Falesia beach was our chosen spot, the unmade track to
it had been repaired in places so was not too bad.
taking it easy
BBQ out and we soon had the beautiful aroma
of piri piri chicken wafting about.
After it was cooked we cleaned the BBQ and went down to the beach to watch yet
another stunning sunset, something we never seem to tire of seeing. Fantastic
palette of colours, and dramatic clouds.
beautiful sunset at Falesia beach
Love the 'taking it easy' shot. A classic
